Five years after Alfred Gill marries Iris Logan for money, her first crush, Owen Kane, returns from abroad. It is then that Alfred realizes he has never truly captured her heart. Despite the pain, he decides to let her go, knowing she deserves a love with Owen. To make a clean break and ensure Iris fully belongs to Owen, Alfred stages his own death and disappears overseas. However, when Iris learns of his death, she is consumed by remorse, realizing too late what she’s lost.
